It is often a good idea to think of the reasons for buying a watch before deciding on a style or material. If you are debating whether you should buy a watch, then you should consider what would happen if you were without your watch for a day.

A wrist watch is often seen as one of the most important accessories that one can own. Not only does it look good on your wrist, but it helps you out, countless times a day, by telling you the time.

Lost watch?

You may not really think about how important having a watch can be to you, but it soon becomes evident when you lose your watch and have to spend a day without it. You will find yourself aimlessly looking at your wrist every so often, with no end result other than having a good look at your wrist. This can be a great problem and leave you embarrassed when someone asks for the time.
You will notice that you are looking at your wrist as many as a few hundred times a day, meaning that the loss of your watch soon becomes apparent. Additionally, not knowing the time can have a profound effect on your productivity levels, in that you may be more liable to delay or dawdle when working. If you had a wrist watch on your wrist, you would see that you have wasted enough time already, and so must step up your workload.

Keeping important appointments

Another way in which the lack of a watch can affect you in the workplace is in the keeping of appointments. You will be bound by wall hanging clocks in your timekeeping efforts, meaning that once you are out of the office and on the street travelling to your destination (perhaps by foot), you are without a timekeeping method, meaning that you can easily lose track of time and therefore may easily be late for an appointment.

The benefits of a wrist watch are not simply limited to the workplace however, with timekeeping affecting a great deal of everyday life for many. You may have a social event that you must be on time for, or even a medical appointment. Additionally, your decision making may be effected by knowing the time; if you have no concept of time, you be less likely to partake in an event that someone invites you to on a whim.

Watches come in a whole range of shapes, sizes, colours and materials, with the most popular being plastic, metals, or leather (straps). The plastic and leather watch types can be perfect for everyday use, as they create less wear on the user when compared with metals (metals can be seen as harsher on the skin). However, metal watches, particularly precious metals, can appear far more classy and expensive in appearance, meaning that they are perfect for big events and nights out where you aim to impress.

If you really want to impress with your watch, 9ct gold watches are often the best way forward, as they give a great sense of class as well as expense; you will stand out from the crowd with a high quality timepiece that will last for a long time.
